A Tester or Quality Analyst (QA) plays a crucial role, ensuring the quality and reliability of the application being developed. Their primary responsibility is to identify defects, bugs, and issues in the software and ensure that it meets the required quality standards.
Participate in the early stages of software development to understand project requirements, gather data, and plan testing activities. Create test plans, define test objectives, and decide on test strategies based on the scope and goals of the project. Develop test cases and test scenarios for various aspects of the application, such as functionality, performance, usability, and compatibility. They examine requirements and user stories to identify testable features and test data. Run test cases manually or with automated testing tools to validate the application's functionality and behaviour. They track defects, record test results, and ensure that issues are properly documented for resolution. Recognize, report, and track defects discovered during testing. Collaboration with developers and other stakeholders is essential to ensuring that issues are properly understood, prioritized, and resolved. Testers may also help to create user documentation and training materials. May also assist in the maintenance and execution of automated test suites. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams comprised of developers, business analysts, project managers, and stakeholders. They actively participate in meetings, provide status updates on testing, and work together to resolve issues and improve application quality. Look for ways to improve testing processes, methodologies, and tools. It is also possible to conduct a root cause analysis and recommend preventive measures to avoid future defects.
