With a sole objective of transforming the educational system from “Rote Learning” to Creative Learning” NSF is opening up new ventures for the learners to fulfill the STEM objective. NSF “Where the Discoveries begin” is triggering the young minds of the students by introducing the new competitive avenues for them whether it’s SPELL BEE to enhance their vocabulary part or Olympiads to complement their Scientific temperament. JNV students are especially being benefitted by the different contests being organized by North South Foundation like NSF Contests (English vocab, Junior, Senior Mathematics and Science Olympiads), SADHANA program started in class IX and even now during this pandemic time, online SODHANA Practice tests every week which will definitely equip the students for coming PISA exam and other academic challenges coming up their way. Not only this, NSF is providing us the platform a bit different from the routine traditional classroom transaction.
NSF has made original and strikingly effective interventions that help children and young people to think more effectively and in the process, build confidence and human skills. NorthSouth’s students have established virtual monopoly on national competitions in everything from SpellingBee to Geography to Math. The statistical probability of achieving these results on a random basis is 1 in a quindecillion. The ease of fit between Ashoka and North South is also a function of the fact that North South is led by entrepreneurs, a core criterion in Ashoka’s global fellowship.
Drayton was named by U.S. News & World Report as one of America's 25 Best Leaders in 2005.NSF has a fantastic track record of providing national level Spelling Bee champions over a number of years. NorthSouth unleashes the creativity in students by various interventions. Hundreds of thousands of students use NSF interventions to prepare for the national and international competitions. I am very impressed with their vision of helping students in India with educational/leadership interventions and their commitment to make a difference to lives of young people. The passion with which NSF operates is remarkable. Over the past few years of my association with NSF, I have seen many dedicated volunteers contribute in various ways to achieve its mission.
Prasad Kaipa was considered one of the top “Learning gurus” since 1990’s“Rote Learning” is the norm in many schools in India and students pass examinations without proper understanding of concepts and their applications in real life. I believe that the NSF platform for creative learning and assessments will help students and teachers immensely. With the help of the NSF platform, the teacher will be able to identify concepts which are not sufficiently understood and revisit, reassess and help students. NSF has been providing the Learning platform for free to government schools across the country, which is commendable. NSF’s vision of Leadership development at school level is very thoughtful as today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders.
The Interests of NSF are genuinely beneficial to the students and has a far reaching support to students in India, especially in JNVs. Five year Journey with NSF has caused intrinsic improvements to the students. Hand holding for granular learning of basics concepts defines the path of passion for the young students, especially in locations where eco system is teacher dependent. NorthSouth Foundation has assisted this core activity through very ingenious modules of contests and peer learning. I am extremely touched by the group which readily accepted the proposal to tread with the new module of Creativity and Critical Thinking challenges to the students in JNVs. The modules worked in collaboration with JNV teachers is working wonders and has brought tremendous satisfaction to the students in JNVs and ease of adoption to the teachers. I am deeply touched by the energy put in voluntarily by the passionate team of NSF in India and USA, which I witnessed in person
Ramachandra, is associated with JNV System for over 3 decades and a key functionary who steered the NSF initiatives in JNVs since 2014. His experience as part of Administration in IIT, IIIT and National Research Labs in India has pushed him into science outreach to schools.Creativity & Critical Thinking platform developed by North south Foundation is being used by the students of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti extensively. The weekly test conducted on Saturdays and Sundays is of immense help in identifying the level of Creative and Critical Thinking in the students. Very interestingly, questions in each scenario are again furnished with the Assessment Parameters and relevant learning outcomes which helps the students to understand how they are being assessed. I feel this is a unique and forward looking platform of Global standard for my students in enhancing Creativity and Critical Thinking and the teachers to make objective assessment.
Students enjoy SADHANA program in two subjects Mathematics and Science. They were basically being revised in concept clarity in the form of tests that too creatively. Teachers as well as students are participating with enthusiasm In a weekly SODHANA practice tests, the students are participating from home with same enthusiasm They used to enjoy going to online classrooms for taking practice tests and assessments based on curriculum
