Leadership Initiative

The Leadership Initiative is a voluntary effort by NSF to fulfil the education circle starting with empathy, acquiring excellence, and building leadership qualities in every child. It works towards making a wholesome life for the child in harmony with society. Such an effort is in line with the motto of its partner, Ashoka Foundation, which believes in "everyone a changemaker" and promotes it throughout the world. There will be several other partners including school management, ignited teachers, school alumni, corporate leaders and sponsors, other NGOs in and outside the region, passionate individuals, scientific community, and social engineers.

A reasonable formulaic approach is 555, signifying 5% of participant Schools, 5% of students (25 students), and 0.005% (averaging 10,000 citizens) of the district population in the district the school is situated. It simply means 30 self-labelled energy centres voluntarily enrolling 25 equally energised students and impacting the rest of the students in the schools, other partner schools, and impacting one half of one percent of the district population. The reach and impact would be far greater in subsequent years with the same or more changemakers.

The full scope of the Leadership Initiative will be realised when the Leadership Initiative becomes a "Paying it forward" movement. "Paying it forward" is a dialogue of the heart leading to a seamless act of love and fraternity. In the case of students, it is a clear statement of acknowledgement of measured empathy extended to self-leading to an act of "Paying it forward" as a way of life-making the person wholesome and a fitting part of the extended body, society.

The Leadership Initiative is a never-ending journey from Empathy to Excellence, not a destination.
