In India, together with our work on providing scholarships to meritorious students and conducting contests - we are revamping the way summative and formative assessments are designed and conducted in large school systems to support student learning and plan remediation to ensure all students achieve grade-level competency and develop the confidence to attempt challenging questions. At present, subjects like Science, Mathematics and English are taken up for the development of the assessment tools.

Key Responsibilities : Assessment design and question bank mapping:
  • Facilitate the development of formative, summative and benchmarking assessment tools.
  • Design assessments for grades 6, 7 , 8, 9 and 10 aligned with the CBSE curriculum (by chapters, topics and sub-topics and learning outcomes).
  • Retrospectively map questions on in-house assessment framework (learning outcomes, cognitive load, grade specific parameters, etc.) with the question bank.
  • Study textbooks and explore online resources to design robust assessments.
  • Review of past assessments, competitive examination papers and creation of diagnostic test items aligned to chapters and grades.
  • Document question types sourced from past CBSE exam papers.
  • Creating diagnostic tests (single topic and entire grade) to gauge student learning effectively.
Content mapping:
  • Retrospectively map the in-house assessment framework and question bank with content (videos, lesson plans, etc.) for grades 6, 7 , 8, 9 and 10 aligned with the CBSE curriculum (by chapters, topics and sub-topics and learning outcomes).
  • Conduct ecosystem analysis and study CBSE curriculum textbooks to gauge content quality to ensure effective and targeted remediation for students and effective pedagogical content for teacher.
  • Validate the content from external sources.
  • Coordinate with identified agencies for sanitizing the content.
  • Document various content types sourced from ecosystem partners.
Optional Responsibilities
  • Research and advise on building assessment frameworks, blueprints for assessment tools, question making, scoring rubrics, question-wise misconception analysis,
  • Review textbooks to understand how different concepts are taught.
  • Review how children learn different concepts and how learning can be assessed.
  • Research curricula from other educational systems and online resources to learn about the best approaches to assess a concept.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to interact in a productive manner with students, teachers, schools, domain experts and external agencies with the goal of gleaning information that will help in assessment, content and product development.
  • At least 2 years of classroom or program implementation experience (especially in Teaching at the Right Level type of programs) in implementing formative and summative assessments, data-driven instruction, and remediation.
  • Should enjoy working in a team and across teams (domain, product, management, etc.).
  • Should like to engage in healthy debates and arguments that are critical for strong assessment, content and product development.
  • Ability to source engaging questions and content for students and teachers.
  • Ability to critically analyse questions and content to deliver a high- quality learning experience for the child.
  • Basic technological awareness (Windows functions, MS Office, Google mail features).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
